The Bricolage Theater
Pittsburgh, PA
In what was the start to a crazy weekend, AC had its first foray into the Pittsburgh fine art world by playing at the Bricolage during the downtown-area’s gallery crawl, One Night Stand. Through the aid of Alexi Morrisey, whom we met at the Hazlett’s Open Mic, we were connected with Jeff and Tami, two super nice people running this very cool, relatively new venue. They were hosting a comedy show that evening, so we were the welcoming music of sorts.
The evening was great for the event as the city was getting its first taste of warm spring weather, so the doors were open wide and there was a nice vibe. The set, in turn, was a lot of fun. For as much gear as we have, there is something about the dynamic that happens both between the two of us and between us and the audience when we have a super small stage to work with that equals a little bit of magic. Maybe our energy just becomes super concentrated and pushes full force out, who knows. Long story short, we got some people dancing, had moments of sing-a-long, and a whole bunch of toe-tapping, so I left satisfied. We also made a new friend, a gentleman named Otis, who was walking past and upon hearing “Dust” made up his own harmony that he later shared with us.
Due to work and other obligations, we weren’t able to stay for much of the show that followed, but the evening definitely confirmed for us that the art world may have to become our new home away from the barroom. Oh, and this was the beginning of what I’m sure will be a long love affair between myself and fake eyelashes. Check out the photo…
