Art All Night
Pittsburgh, PA
The warm weather continued but was not as kind for Saturday’s show. Art All Night is an annual event in Pittsburgh where the community is invited to submit a piece of art to be displayed, without censorship or judgment, for over 24 hours at a different location in the city each year. They also have local music acts perform throughout the evening, and coming morning, as another means of showcasing all of the city’s talent. This year the event took place in a huge warehouse in the Strip District. Very nicely designed, had tons to offer by way of different art mediums and free beverages/eats, but without any over-head fans and upwards of 5,000 people walking around at any given point, very, VERY hot.
AC was given a prime slot at a little after 9 that evening, following a local blues-rock band. Pushing aside the fear that performing might equal passing out, we played a half-hour set to an ever-changing crowd of people. By the end we managed to create a mad dash to the stage for sampler CDs and business cards, to garner the attention of at least five photographers, and even elicit some hippie-wiggle dance moves from someone during “Be My Baby.”
After we made way for the next acts (teenage African hip-hop and exotic belly-dancing, respectively) we browsed the work for a bit and managed a good time, even with profuse sweating. Check out one of the images from the evening….
