So as promised, not all of these entries will be rants. in fact, some of them will be far more straight to the point. like this one. i fear how my sarcasm actually translates over an electronic medium—most likely not quite as tongue and check as i’d like, much more biting then i mean it to be—and as i’m learning that blogging is a fine balance between distributing information and getting wrapped up in the confusion that is personal thoughts made all too public, it is time to be short and sweet.
things learned in new york visit in a nutshell:
-GPS is of absolutely no help in navigating through the sea that is NYC traffic. we recommend changing your GPS’s voice to one with a British accent as it makes being told where to turn milliseconds too late over and over again slightly more comical than frustrating, like the running-through-a-maze-of-rooms gag in so many a british sitcom.
-you can get pizza from just about anywhere and it will be amazing. and cheap. and huge.
-once you start interacting with people after stepping away from the wheel, you find that New Yorkers’ are very nice when not in cars.
-tiki bars are very cool, i wish i knew of one in Pittsburgh.
-never miss an opportunity to take pics in a black and white photo booth. it is always worth it, i don’t care the cost or the quality of the image or the fact that the developing chemicals almost always smell like hard-boiled eggs.
we played a set with a fair amount of covers as we played for Otto’s Copycat night. The crowd was very nice and it was super fun seeing others do tribute music up right—with a whole lot of energy, a crooked smile, and with the sole aim being to have fun. kudos.
